The circus

We took the kids to the circus this weekend and what a circus it was! Braeden kept kicking the lady in front of us and hitting the poor girls next to her with his sword and Camden insisted on wearing the hat he got with his cotton candy that was a foot high!!! The kids danced and were in awe of all the circus acts and of course they loved all of the sugary treats. The kids had a blast, along with my niece and grandmother who had never been to the circus, so I was glad they got to enjoy the show along with the kiddos. I tend to forget how many things we have here in Houston for kids to do. As you can only imagine, it's pretty difficult to get a picture with all three kids looking at the camera smiling...

Is that really MY child?

Last weekend the kids, my niece and I went to one of my highschool friends (Stacey) daughters birthday party. Her daughter, Micah, turned 4 and they had a pool party for her. My first thought is great, my 15 year old niece Rachel is in town, I can take her and not have to get in the pool and in a bathing suit in front of all these strangers! Well we get to the party and I get all of the kids in their bathing suits along with Maya and Braeden in their life jackets. Camden is my most cautious child and I can tell him to stay in the shallow part of the pool and he will listen, so I don't put a life jacket on him. Maya and Braeden, who have no fear, immediately jump in the pool while Camden carefully walks down the steps in the shallow end. My niece Rachel has yet to put her bathing suit on, but I figure the kids are OK until she gets ready, they've been in pools and water enough. Well I was wrong!! I'm standing by the pool and I look over to see Camden bouncing in and out of the water. Keep in mind, the water is about forehead level for him, so he's tip-toeing in out and of the water, semi asking for help. I'm standing right there telling him to push off the bottom and he'll be able to reach the side, which is only about three feet away. Not much time passes and I see he's starting to panic, so I walk onto the second step in the pool, about knee high to me, fully clothed of course, and reach my hand out to help him. He's now pretty much in full panic mode and has no real bearings about him and he is starting to flounder in the water. The entire time, I'm thinking, is this really my child, the cautious one? It dawns on me that is, so of course, I do what I have to do to help him... which is walk in to the water FULLY CLOTHED, up to my chest to get his little butt out! Fortunately I had brought my bathing suit just in case so I changed into that while I put my clothes in my friends dryer! One of these days my kids will be the older kids helping the younger ones! :)

I'm not one of those moms

Unfortunately, I'm not one of those scrapbooking moms. I really wish I was for the sake of my kids memories, but this blog is my way of scrapbooking if you will. I do however, send emails to my friends and family from time to time with funny kid stories. So I'm going to back track a little right now and put in a couple email stories I sent out this summer.....

Pure Chaos

Time for another funny kid story…. I was giving all three kids a bath in our bathtub the other night and I asked them to pick up all their toys because it was time to get out and get ready for bed. So they get all their toys in the basket and Maya lays down in the bath because she likes to wait for ALL of the damn water to run out of the tub before she gets out (which takes forever in those garden tubs – and she pushes every last drop of water down the drain – I’m rolling my eyes as I type this). So, Maya is laying down, Camden is sitting indian style admiring his buddy (refresher, this is what we call his penis) and Braeden stands up and puts his arms out for me to get him out of the tub. I’m reaching down for Braeden and Camden gasps in excitement (keep in mind Braeden’s midsection is eye level with Camden at this point) “mommy, Braeden’s buddy is getting bigger! It’s going to be big like mine someday right?!?! “ (I’m thinking Braeden’s buddy is “getting bigger” literally, so I look over and sigh in relief realizing that’s not what he meant) Then Camden reaches down to inspect his buddy and do a comparison of his and Braeden’s buddies. He then proceeds to look at Maya’s midsection closely and he looks back and me and says “mommy, you and Maya don’t have buddies, right? But Braeden is getting bigger and his will be like mine one day right?” I’m laughing so hard at this point that I have no clue what to say to him, so I just continue to get them out of the bath, dry them off, wrap their towels around them and we head to the living room to get pajamas on. Well I’m on the floor getting Braeden dressed and Maya and Camden are both running around the house NAKED!! I tell them to stop running and get their pajamas on. A few seconds later I look over and Maya is still naked, doing a headstand with one leg on the couch and the other on the ottoman to prop her up because she can’t do a free standing headstand yet. Basically she’s spread eagle and she’s still naked! What the hell is wrong with my house!?!?!

Pre-School Graduation

Camden graduated from pre-K in May and the program was sooo cute, they sang songs and said their pledges, wore the graduation caps and even walked across the stage to get their “diploma”!!!

Camden lost two teeth in two months!

My kids seem to be growing up way too fast! Camden graduates pre-K one week and the very next he loses his first tooth! He then loses another just two months later.....boohoo

Finally...

So I finally decided to follow along with many other parents and start a blog about my kids. I have to admit, I didn't even set this blog up. I asked one of my co-workers (thanks Carrie!) to help me out and of course she did it the next day, which was almost a month ago! Well now I'm finally doing my part and starting my posts about my crazy, yet fun filled life with my kiddos. To catch everyone up - Camden is 5 and thinks he's in charge, Maya is 3 and is the sweet and sassy one, and then there's Braeden, who is also 3 (we'll cover the age thing in a minute). Braeden is the loudest of the 3 kids, everything, and I do mean everything he says is as loud as he can possibly say it. OK, so he probably has to scream to be heard with the other two, but that thought doesn't cross my mind when all three kids are yelling for attention. OK, so just to remind those who don't know, or need a refresher, Maya and Braeden are not twins, they are 10 months apart. I know what you're thinking, and no, we did not plan to have them that close together, but now, we wouldn't change it. Our lives are chaotic, but lots of fun...
